What counts as a boutique hotel in Dubai?

A boutique hotel is small, design-led and has a clear sense of place – not simply a luxury hotel with fewer rooms. For this list, that means small or split into small parts – most hotels here have well under 150 rooms, and Al Seef Heritage spreads its rooms across ten traditional houses – with individually designed spaces and a character you couldn't transplant to another city.

Dubai makes that a short list. Its famous hotels run to hundreds or thousands of rooms, and most "boutique" results in searches are simply five-star towers. The real boutique stock is in Old Dubai's heritage quarters – Al Fahidi, Al Seef and Bur Dubai – with a handful of small luxury resorts elsewhere.

Three names to skip: Golden Sands Boutique Hotel on Dubai Creek became Mövenpick Dubai Creek in 2026, a 150-room chain hotel; the Barjeel Heritage Guest House listing no longer resolves to a bookable page on Booking.com; and "Maison Asrar", which turns up in searches, is a perfume brand, not a hotel.

XVA Art Hotel

XVA Art Hotel has 15 rooms, each individually designed, set around courtyards and wind towers in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, inside a working art gallery. Its courtyard café serves vegetarian food, the shop sells local art and craft, and the Gold Souk and abra crossing are about 10 minutes' walk away. It is also listed in the Michelin Guide.

Guest scores sit in the Superb band. A July night cost ~AED 600 and a November night ~AED 820 in our sample – a fair price for something the big hotels can't offer.

Al Seef Heritage Hotel Dubai, Curio Collection by Hilton

Al Seef Heritage Hotel is spread across ten traditional Emirati houses in the Al Seef heritage district on Dubai Creek, with wind towers, arched doorways and rooms finished in local materials. It is part of Hilton's Curio Collection, so the service is chain-standard, including free transport to a rooftop pool, spa and gym at a sister Hilton hotel.

It was the cheapest stay on this list: ~AED 320 a night in July and ~AED 620 in November, with guest scores in the Excellent band.

Arabian Boutique Hotel

Arabian Boutique Hotel is tiny – eight rooms in Bur Dubai, a rooftop terrace, a pool and a hot tub, about 15 minutes' walk from Dubai Creek. Guest reviews praise the staff and the breakfast, but on fewer than 200 reviews – promising rather than proven.

Which small luxury hotels in Dubai feel boutique?

One and Only The Palm

One&Only The Palm is a luxury resort at boutique scale: 94 rooms, suites and villas in Andalusian-style buildings around gardens and a private beach. Yannick Alléno runs its restaurants, including the two-Michelin-star STAY, and the beachfront junior suites have private pools.

Guest scores sit in the Superb band. Rates ran from ~AED 2,800 in July to ~AED 6,270 in November, so this is the one to book in summer if you can.

Four Seasons Hotel Dubai International Financial Centre

Four Seasons DIFC is a 106-room city hotel with a glass-walled outdoor pool, the Mina Brasserie and the Churchill Club cigar lounge, in the walkable finance and dining district next to Downtown. It is not the Four Seasons beach resort on Jumeirah Road.

Bvlgari Resort Dubai has 101 rooms and suites plus 20 villas on Jumeira Bay Island, with a private marina, a beach club and a 1,700m² spa. It is small for a Dubai resort and priced at the very top: ~AED 5,580 for our November date.

Are there cheap boutique hotels in Dubai?

Yes – and they're the heritage ones. In our July sample, Al Seef Heritage Hotel cost ~AED 320 a night, Arabian Boutique Hotel ~AED 390 and XVA ~AED 600, all in Old Dubai. The newer districts don't have an equivalent: Downtown and Dubai Marina are tower-hotel areas, and even the small 63-room Rove JBR in Dubai Marina is a budget brand rather than a design boutique.
